REACTIONS TO ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
Giuseppe had already dressed up and was now wearing a straight red silk tie on it. As usual, he slowly tied his silk tie, enjoying every second of it, like a child who enjoyed playing with the toy in his hand. It was a ritual for him—a ritual to satisfy his ego. Knowing the importance of balance in life, he would not miss any chance to reward himself as much as strived to free himself from his ego.
The light white stripe suit was always the favorite one he wore at official ceremonies. Like the Italian mafia fathers of the old times, his outfit finished when he hung the long white scarf on his neck. However, this ritual would not end without wearing the luxurious perfumery, tying his long white hair on the back of his head, smiling in the mirror, and wearing the four rings that symbolize the Creation, birth to material life, death, and rebirth from ashes.
He remembered this ancient cycle as he wore every ring contemplating on their deep meaning and wished to be born like a phoenix from his ashes. That last ring symbolizing the reincarnation of man was a message to remind him every moment of his wish to die before dying, which was the key milestone to escape from the endless reincarnation cycle, Samsara. He was neither a monk nor a disbeliever. He intended to search for his Nirvana in city life. Despite all these noble goals, it was not easy to reach his goal without overcoming his strong emotions and relieving the suffering inside his burning heart.
A few minutes later, everything was ready as he wanted. Now, he could walk into the crowd like the noble Italian gentlemen of the 15th-century Renaissance period.
Giuseppe still enjoyed using an old-style mirror even in 2075 when people no longer used mirrors as they dressed up. Mirrors have been by digital displays a long time ago. Why wouldn't he like it? The mirror was reminding him of life and his true essence, but a digital mirror was nothing more than a screen. Seeing his image on a virtual screen was very different from looking at his reflection in a glazed mirror because he was a seeker of truth beyond the physical reality.
The news started at 10 am on the holographic screen in the middle of his office as he looked at himself one last time in that tall mirror.
"The whole world is talking about the ceremony today. On this historic day, Adapa, the first human-like organic robot, will be activated with the valuable participation of Mr. Jack Wonderfield, the President of the United Nations of Pangea. This modern organic robot is a result of the latest artificial intelligence research and advanced robotics developed during the Armageddon Wars, or in other words, the WW3.
Now we will connect with our reporters in various cities around the world. They are on the streets and are talking to many people from different walks of life. Let`s hear what people living in different places around the world are going to tell us about Project Phoenix."
Different people from different cities around the world began to show up on the screens as the famous Morning News speaker turned back to look at the massive screen behind him.
First was a woman walking on a street in Rome heading for work. "Jesus took over our sins and sacrificed himself for us with his noble death on the cross. But what do we do now? We're playing God. I do not see a problem with making our lives easier using robots and quantum computers for difficult jobs we humans cannot do. But what is this about playing God? Is that what Jesus atoned for? The windows of Heaven are close to falling over our heads. The bloody plant Nibiru cleansed us with fire. Unfortunately, we still don't understand. May, our great Father, forgive us. Amen."
Another citizen in the streets of Rome raised concerns with a different point of view. "Our possibilities are even more limited after the world population fell to 1.7 billion. They say the monetary system will go away in 2150. It's a dream, and if that is true, we still must work for 75 years more. I still must make money to take care of my family. I have a family. I've had three children as encouraged by our elders, and I want to offer the same opportunities to my every child. If these robots come in, what will happen to us? Robots who do not eat, drink, and demand, will be welcomed by ambitious employers and corporate kings. I don't want to lose my job."
A woman from Egypt was also furious. "In the 21st century, we made the technology our religion, worshipped capitalism, and created false prophets. We created the Dajjal with our own hands, paid for our sins. But it was not enough because that Dabbat' ul Arz, called Nibiru, came and gave us the Judgement Day. When the Earth's axis shifted, the sun rose from the West and then from the north. Wasn't the fire of hell enough to awaken us from our materialistic dream? Now we are creating another Dabbat`ul Arz with our own hands. May God be with us."
This time it was a woman in Poland on the streets. "The arrival of Jesus Christ is real. But as St. John said long before Jesus spread the Gospel, I am sure that he will cleanse us with fire this time." She continued to walk immediately after her concise reply.
"Imagine that with artificial intelligence, we've increased our brain capacity to 20% or even beyond," said a young man in China. "I'm wondering what we humans can do. I think we, humans, have an unprecedented opportunity to transcend ourselves. I think it is the fate of man to transcend his physical limitations and discover the universe. We can do that if we increase our brain capacity with artificial intelligence."
A woman from Japan had a different problem. The lady who said she was an expert in sociology drew attention to the likely impact of this project on family relations. "Have we ever thought of the relationship between man and woman after the creation of organic robots? The divorce rates in families are still not less than before the Third World War. What if a man, who can't find what he's looking for in his wife, lives with an organic robot woman to avoid any love relationship problems? Or what would happen if a woman, depressed about her husband, goes out and lives with an organic robot man to live a stress-free life? What happens then to our relationships? What about our families? The use of organic robots, even for the satisfaction of deep pleasures, will destroy the feelings of remorse, guilt, shame in humans, and turn us into soulless machines."
After she finished talking, another woman, who said later that she was an obstetrician, jumped in from behind the reporter to say a few words. "Well, what if these robots start having sex between themselves and give birth to children? I can't imagine the ethical and legal problems of a normal woman or a robo-woman getting pregnant from a robo-man. Besides, how can he be a father to his children? It is a disgrace." She stopped talking faster than how she started and walked away still talking to herself.
It was a tough and dense subject. In general, people had difficulty imagining the results of what is coming up with organic robots equipped with artificial intelligence. They were just afraid of the unknown.
A young man expressed himself by making an eccentric comment on the words of the woman who went away furiously. "Women and men are very different. A friend of mine recently left his wife because of sexual reasons. An organic woman wouldn't say no to anything, nor would she have a problem with a man. My friend's ex-wife had a soul, but how did that serve for a happy relationship? It's better to live with a robot woman without a soul, instead of living with a real woman without a soul. Life is too short to be unhappy."
A man from Kenya in his 70s said, "our continent has suffered in the past a lot from slavery. Are we not tired of trying to bring slavery again and again? Don't we realize that robot assistants are going to be our slaves? Even a non-living being does not deserve to be a slave of the living." His question pointing out to the wrongdoings and cruelty of our ancestors hit the puzzled faces of the listeners like a slap.
"There is much to do in the world, but there is no time. I'd love to get out of the money-making cycle to manage my life and live my dreams. It would be nice if a robot did my job for me, and I lived life with my loved ones. Then, I would find Heaven in the world." These were the words of a Venezuelan man in his mid-20s who was tired of the economically and politically tough life in his country.
In Jerusalem, people were in revolt. People protesting the project had already flooded the streets." Once we fell from the garden of Eden, this time, let's not be kicked out of the world. Adonai is One, and man is created in His image." While the people were out in the streets, the announcer in Jerusalem did not dare to approach the people despite all the security measures. He was only able to follow them from a distance.
Later it was a protestor from Norway on the screen. "We're producing these organic thinking robots now, and what about their rights? Are we going to use them as slaves, or are we going to give them certain rights? We've never had a thinking robot before. Thinking means making choices. It means life. Then, does that mean free will? What are the limits that programmers must pay attention to, as those who program thinking robots impose their biases and cultural lenses too? There are many questions, but there are no answers."
A woman from Russia said, "the artificial intelligence is faster and stronger than we are. What if they get out of control? We may be pulling our strings, just like the indigenous peoples who saw Christopher Columbus as the white gods in their myths, that helped them start their civilization and left unexpectedly with an open promise they will one day come back."
At the morning prayer in Mecca, a white-haired old man said, "there is good in everything evil and evil in everything good. Something that seems bad today may come out good, as something that seems bad may serve for a good reason. Whatever is happening is the best possible thing to happen. He is the one who does everything, and thus there is a reason why He lets things happen. If Allah the Almighty did not allow things to happen with his divine names, Al-Jabbar and Al-Kahhar, could Artificial Intelligence come to these days? If he wanted to prevent things, he would do so with his divine name Al-Mani. As Al-Malik, Allah is the owner of all things. Let's live and see. There is a divine reason in everything Allah does. La faile illallah" he said and asked for permission to leave.
Another elderly man who had finished namaz said, "it may be time for us to pay the price of what we do to the world as people. We've done terrible things to each other in this world. For what? For the sake of the so-called treasures of the impermanent world. After all, we're coming from the same source and going to the same source. We came naked and will go naked from this world, but what is the reason for this huge ambition? Look, my son, what does it write at the mosque entrance? All belongs to Him."
An archaeologist working at Gobeklitepe said, "12,000 years ago there used to be a very different way of life and a different belief system other than we thought. And from now on, life won't be the way we want it to be. It will flow in its own direction like a wild river pouring into the ocean. The servant makes plans; Allah laughs. Perhaps we have completed our mission as people who have brought the world to the brink of destruction. Human species have not yet reached half of their evolution. Look, we're still using 5% to 10% of our brains. This system is capable of more. Maybe we can exceed the limits of our brains with artificial intelligence. Maybe a new generation of half-human, half-robot race can wipe Homo Sapiens off the Earth, or smart robots can enslave us."
In South India, a yogi approaching the reporter gave her the following answer. "Man has lost himself in this worldly illusion. He became Maya's slave. He didn't use his Atman in the right way, which Brahma entrusted to him. Maybe the competition he is in with artificial intelligence will wake him from his sleep and remind him of his fate to reach Nirvana."
In Afghanistan, where poverty was still prevailing in many regions, and terrorist forces were fighting against the Global Peace Force, a doctor said "thanks to organic robots, we will be able to eliminate all human health problems. When we produce a robot from the start to finish, we will also be able to produce body parts. We need it so much here," he said.
"A farmworker in Chile said, "I couldn't live my life, because of the long, silly war that seemed as if it would never end. I'm going to die soon. I don't have much time left in this world. How much would I wish to live longer with this new technology and extend my life? It would be nice to live in a young body while retaining my 82 years of life experience. A new me, who is younger but more knowledgeable and more conscious than my current state. Living in the body of an organic robot with mind transfer and living what I have missed living till now is my dream," he said with tearful eyes. The pain he had been through was so evident in his sad gaze.
Tibet, the roof of the Earth, was full of tranquility as usual as if nothing had happened. In the interview with Dalai Lama, he said that spiritual energies have awakened humanity since the 19th century and that the doors of a new era were now open. "This period will be the Golden Age of the world. The days when people will live together in love, peace, and happiness are close."
These street interviews, which conveyed the ideas and opinions of the people in various parts of the world, seemed to continue until the ceremony beginning at noon. Giuseppe turned off the holographic display with a voice command to prepare for the meeting and review the preparations one last time and left his office.
Giuseppe had a very different vision from many others as director of Project Phoenix. They would use this artificial intelligence and robot technology to make time for humanity to mature itself and to live the world like in Ionia and Ancient Greece 2500 years ago. According to him, if they did not do this, Homo-Sapiens, that is, "the knowing man" had no future in this world. It was time for people of Earth to become "self-conscious." This blessed mission was his highest service to humanity.
